He then stayed at the university to teach and conduct rocket research.Return to ChinaIn 1955, Qian Xuesen returned to China and held various positions such as Director of the Mechanics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense, Director of the Modern Mechanics Department of the University of Science and Technology of China, and Director of the China Academy of Space Technology.
