IntroductionLet's Eat! is a popular board game created by Reiner Knizia and published by Schmidt Spiele. The game is designed for two to six players and centers around the theme of cuisine and restaurant ownership. Players take turns being the restaurateur, who dishes out food and pays the costs of ingredients, while the other players assume the role of customers, who receive menus and place orders. The game's objective is to amass wealth through a combination of careful menu planning and restaurant management.GameplayPlayer SetupAt the start of the game, each player receives a personal menu, which includes a number of different food items and their corresponding costs. Players take turns being the restaurateur until someone reaches a total wealth of 20 points. The restaurateur places all the food items face-up on the table in front of them, arranging them in order of their cost, with the least expensive item on the left and the most expensive on the right. The other players receive a fixed amount of chips based on the number of players, with each chip representing one point.Turn StructureOn their turn, a player can take one of three actions:Order FoodThe customer can look at the restaurateur's menu and place an order for one or more food items. The customer must pay the full cost of the item or items they order in chips. If a customer orders more than one item, they must pay for each item separately. Once an order is placed, the customer receives the number of chips they paid in exchange for the food item or items they orderedPassThe customer can pass on placing an order and wait for the next turn. Passing customers do not receive any chips or points for passingBankruptcyIf a customer cannot pay for an order or lacks enough chips to do so, they must declare bankruptcy. When a customer declares bankruptcy, they forfeit all of their chips and any points they may have accrued to that point in the game. The customer then exits the game, passing their chips and any remaining menus to the next player on their left. A player who reaches bankruptcy three times exits the game immediatelySpecial ActionsIn addition to placing orders and passing, there are two special actions that can be taken during the game:"Kitchen" or "No Kitchen" CardAt various points during the game, the restaurateur will draw one of these cards. "Kitchen" cards allow customers to prepare an additional food item on their menu for free, while "No Kitchen" cards prevent customers from preparing any additional food items until the next round. These cards give customers strategic opportunities to manipulate their menus and improve their point totals"Sweetheart" CoupleAt various points during the game, the restaurateur will draw one of these cards, which allows a customer to pair up with another customer and share half of their wealth. This can provide a strategic advantage for players who pair up, as they can amass chips and points much faster than playing alone. However, if one player in a couple declares bankruptcy, both players exit the game immediately, which can be a high risk strategyGame EndThe game continues until one player reaches 20 points or all customers have declared bankruptcy three times. At that point, the game is over and the player with the most points wins!
